About us

Hello, and welcome to QuiltBitz we are glad you found us. Located in Kamloops, we are an online studio servicing across Canada. In February 2022, QuiltBitz was purchased and relocated from Manitoba to beautiful British Columbia. Owning a quilt shop has been a long-standing aspiration of mine. From a very young age, I would experiment with sewing, creating items with available materials without following patterns. For instance, one memorable creation was a fish made from bright red cord, black top thread, navy bobbin thread, and paper for stuffing. Despite its imperfections, such as mismatched sides and unaligned eyes, this piece became cherished when I found it among my father’s belongings after he passed away. Throughout the years, I have created numerous pieces of clothing, including making my own graduation dress, which both my cousin and I wore for our respective graduations. My passion for sewing began early in my life and has remained steadfast. In December of 1998, after being laid off from my corporate job, we relocated to Edson, Alberta. Adjusting to the slower pace and unfamiliar environment of a small town, having previously lived in larger cities, led me to discover the local quilt shop on main street. With no prior experience in quilting, I embarked on my quilting journey by purchasing fabric and a pattern for "A Trip Around the World." This marked the beginning of my enduring love for quilting and fabric collection. A dear friend and I continue to meet annually to quilt together. I am fortunate to have a supportive husband who assists with shipping and receiving tasks. He helps by organizing bolts of fabric, preparing orders, and transporting packages to the post office and shelves. Fabric can indeed be quite heavy! Since November of 2023, he has become the main hands behind the scenes. Since relocating QuiltBitz to the west, we have embraced new opportunities and continued to uphold the foundational aspects of the business. Your feedback is invaluable to us and helps shape the store and its inventory. It has been a pleasure serving you all from the beginning until now. We carefully select the newest releases with the hope of inspiring your next creation. As the shop evolves, more collections, bundles, kits, and patterns will be added. This is an ongoing process, and we appreciate your comments and input. As an experienced quilter, I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and inspiration with others who wish to learn. I also enjoy learning from fellow quilters and look forward to a wonderful journey with you.
